Fine & Sunny 66F
Sleep in this morning alarms set for 7.30am this morning. Breakfast in our apartment and on the road towards North Pole at 9.25am arriving at 9.45am. Santa's House his Reindeer's and even a photo on his lap! Then a photo of the North Pole which is a duplicate of one dropped at the North Pole. This town has a Christmas theme all year around.
On the way to Pioneer Park at 11.30am arriving 11.55am this has a lot of the old building/homes from Fairbanks that have been moved to this Park to help keep the heritage of the area. We walked the park and the girls enjoyed looking in the shop arrived back to our apartment at 1.10pm had some lunch.
After lunch we headed out again to the University Museum of The North, we spent 2 hours here. This houses the "Blue Bell" the Mammoth that was uncovered in the Permafrost. We also watched a movie on the Northern Lights, the vast coloured streams light up the sky, but not until late Nov/Dec when it is dark most of the time. Figured it was the closest we will get to seeing it this trip.
A quick shop to top up supplies and home again at 5pm. Out to dinner at "Cookie Jar" great meals and even better deserts all at a good price as well.
Walked to the Vintage Motor Museum which is here at the Resort, found some "Forget-me-knots" - Alaska's national flower tried to take photos but eaten alive with mozzies so gave up. This was a fantastic display of vehicles and also vintage clothing from the late 1800's to mid 1900's. We all enjoyed wandering around 7.40 - 9pm when it closed, could have had some more time here, we did not realise how good it would be. Many photos taken of both the vehicles and fashions.
Betty & Deb down to the Guest laundry to do the washing returning to the room at 10.40pm. Boys already in bed.
