Revelstoke to Banff

Sunday 19th May 2013
Early rise again this morning and down to the Hotel dinning room for breakfast, by 7.30am 13C. Yep crossed the border and now in Canada so back to metric. Checked out, car packed and on the way 8.45am. Stopped to take a few pictures of this lovely town. Up the Mountain to Mt Revelstoke National Park. Great view from the lookout back down over Revelstoke and surrounding valley with snow capped mountains in the background.

Looking back to Revelstoke
Headed back into Revelstoke to fuel the car, leaving Revelstoke again at 10ish and heading for Golden.  A walk on the Skunk Cabbage Trail with the Skunk Cabbage in flower as it is spring, Hemlock Grove Trail small walk in forrest.  Our next stop was Roger's Pass Discovery Centre still only 14C, purchased Annual National Pass for Parks Canada and look through the information centre. Next stop Golden 2.20pm at Subway for lunch - the same as home, quick, fresh and have clean restrooms always a good place to eat. Next onto Northern Lights Wolf Centre we had an hours visit to the centre to see and hear about the Wolves - very informative.
On the road again at 5.30pm stopped at Spiral Tunnels showig the original Tunnels build to allow trains on the Canada Pacific rail line to get through the mountains, still only 13C. Stopped in at Lake Louise - very busy no car parks so did not stop continued on our way to Banff ariving at 7pm. Checked into our 2 Bedroom Appartment, living area downstairs and bedrooms upstairs. We are going to have room to relax over the next few days.
Dinner at The Keg Resturant, walked to Safeway for more grocery supplies, arriving back at 10pm just before dark. Only 8C.

  1. More great things to add to my must-do list. The hikes mentioned looked perfect. Especially hiking to a tea house.
