Jacksonville & Crater Lake

Saturday 11th May 2013
Up early again this morning and Breakfast included and served in the Breakfast room. Repacked the car and on the way to Jacksonville after a short stop at the visitor center in Medford. Jacksonville is an Historic town with many old buildings. Given that is is spring here all the gardens are in flower and look fantastic.

Following lunch in Medford at the Subway - there staff would not get a job in Australia - 30 mins to get our lunch! We hit the road heading fro Crater lake, along the way we visited the Eagle point covered bridge, Rouge River Gorge the water was flowing so fast here. Then to Crater Lake well worth the drive a Beautiful Volcanic lake surrounded by snow. Could not do the rim drive as the road is still closed, likely to be closed til July due to budget cuts.

Then onto Chemult for the evening, Geoff's GPS took us onto the Sun Pass "TRACK", an interesting drive to say the least. 25 Miles of dirt road and fallen trees and pot holes Geoff's outback driving experience was usefully to negotiate this track, finally back onto the main road with a very dusty car we arrived at Dawson House Lodge Chemult about 6.30pm and interesting place a small town on the highway with a large truck stop opposite us.
