Redwood Coast - National Parks

Friday 10th May 2013
Breakfast across the carpark in the breakfast room this morning. Car packed and on the road by 9am, weather overcast and cool 51F. Stopped at Eureka Old Town walked around looking at all the old buildings most stunning Carson House at the end of the street.

Arrived Redwood National Park Ranger office for maps the Ranger asked when he found out we were Australian's if we had ever been to th Australian Open?  Betty & Deb could give him some details about the Aust Open. He would love to go one day!
 
Next stop Lady Bird Johnson Grove a beautiful 1 & half  hour walk amongst the Giant Redwood Trees and Forest. Betty read the self guide tour details along the way. Next we stopped at Big Tree another short walk with the Redwoods. Next drive into the Paririe Creek Redwoods State Park. Stopped to take photo's of Smith River. Reached the Oregon Border at 4.50pm and the Temp up to 81F, drove up Grants Pass and the Temp up to 94F what a change from this morning. Arrived at Medford 6.15pm checked in and headed for dinner. Lovely dinner at Applebee's Grill. Got some bargins at the Food Wise Store on the way back to Motel. Double size punnet of Strawberries $1.48, 2ltr washing liquid for $0.98 and 16 Bottles of Coke $3.80! Shopping is interesting as the tax in not added on til you get to the checkout, something we are not used too.
